MTG APPARENTLY "FORGOT ABOUT DRE"

U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green evidently "forgot about Dre" when she decided to hijack the instrumental version of Dr. Dre's 1999 single "Still D.R.E." (Aftermath/Interscope) for a promotional video in which she celebrates Kevin McCarthy's victory as speaker of the House. Dre immediately issued a statement, telling TMZ: “I don’t license my music to politicians, especially someone as divisive and hateful as this one."

Taylor Green fired back: "While I appreciate the creative chord progression, I would never play your words of violence against women and police officers and your glorification of the thug life and drugs.”

Subsequently, Dre's attorney, Howard King, issued a cease-and-desist letter to Greene.

“The use of ‘Still D.R.E.’ without permission constitutes copyright infringement,” King wrote, followed by the citation of a specific passage in the copyright code. "One might expect that, as a member of Congress, you would have a passing familiarity with the laws of this country."

A copy of King's letter can be found below. Taylor Greene's humility cannot.
