Jamie Spinks has been promoted to head of A&R at Sony Music U.K.’s Columbia Records. His newly expanded role includes running the JV Room Two. He will report to Columbia U.K. President Dipesh Parmar, who took the helm of the label at the end of last year.
“Jamie’s the definition of a true A&R, someone who understands how to achieve the best from artists and bring real value to records," said Parmar. "I’ve admired his work over the years, and we’ve been in close competition for as long as I can remember.”
With more than a decade of experience working in A&R, Spinks joined Columbia last year. Since then, he’s signed and developed venbee, whose hit single, “Messy in Heaven,” spent 20 weeks on the U.K. singles chart, peaking at #3, and has since racked up 112m global streams.
Prior to his stint at Columbia, Spinks spent 10 years at Polydor, where he signed Jax Jones and worked on #1 albums by BRIT Award-winning artists Ellie Goulding and Celeste.
