SIVAN, KELLER CURATE SYDNEY SONGHUBS CAMP WITH PRIDE

Australia/New Zealand music-rights outfit APRA AMCOS is celebrating its 90th SongHubs songwriting camp. Each year the organization mounts "The Tower" sessions, its flagship event, as part of the gathering. This year marks the inaugural "Pride SongHubsThe Tower," established in partnership with WorldPride, widely viewed as the leading global LGBTQ+ Pride event.

Curated by Aussie pop star Troye Sivan and Milk & Honey CEO/founder Lucas Keller, the five-day collaborative happening kicked off 2/20 at Sydney’s Studios 301 and will wrap Friday, 2/24.

Sivan and Keller selected numerous LGBTQ+ creators for the colorful camp, including Leland, Gia Woods and Mona Khoshoi. Local artists/producers are also on deck.

Seen taking considerable pride in our absence are (back row, l-r): APRA AMCOS chief Dean Ormston, Keller, Tim Nelson, Alex the Astronaut, flowerkid, Montaigne, Phoebe Sinclair, Vetta Borne, June Jones, Lara Frew, Huck Hastings and Leland; (middle, l-r): Luca George, Lucy Blomkamp, Siala, Keelan Mak, Lara Andallo and SaVetta Bornerah Saint James; and (front, l-r): Khoshoi, Sivan, Woods, Charley and Keiynan Lonsdale.

SongHubs sponsors include Marsh and partners Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Abbey Road Institute Australia and Soho House.

Said Keller, "I’ve long been a fan of Australian and New Zealand talent. What an honor to bring opportunity to and shed light on all of the incredible LGBTQ+ talent in our community. It’s amazing, personally, to be in Sydney for the 90th SongHubs at the same time as Mardi Gras and Pride celebrations."

Ormston said, “SongHubs has always been about inviting songwriters, composers and producers into an inclusive, safe and creative environment. I’m proud that our 90th event ties in with our first 'Pride SongHubs–The Tower.' We are bringing together an incredible group of Queer creators to collaborate at an exciting time in Sydney’s LGBTQ+ history."

SongHubs was launched in 2013 and has since helped generate more than A$4m in performance royalties for the creatives participating in its 90 events worldwide. You can find out more about APRA AMCOS below. In a related story, we still don't know what's in Vegemite.
