Reservoir Media has acquired the publishing and recorded rights of jazz legend Sonny Rollins.
A prolific recording artist and songwriter, Rollins has released more than 60 albums over seven decades. His compositions include the jazz standards “St. Thomas,” “Oleo” and “Doxy.” Rollins, who is 92, received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2004, a National Medal of Arts in 2010 and a Kennedy Center Honor in 2011.
“Reservoir is honored to sign this deal with the iconic Sonny Rollins and to be entrusted with his catalog spanning 70 years of brilliance and musical innovation,” said Reservoir President and COO Rell Lafargue. “I first learned of Sonny through his music, playing ‘St. Thomas’ as a young jazz student, and it’s incredibly meaningful that Reservoir and I can now commit to preserving Sonny’s musical legacy and amplifying his contributions to the art form for audiences old and new.”
