LATIN MUSIC TOPS $1B, RIAA REPORTS

Latin music generated more than $1b from streaming in the U.S. last year, the RIAA reported Wednesday (4/12), growing 24% to outpace the industry overall.

At $1.06b, streaming represented 97% of Latin-music revenue, totaling $1.1b. The genre hit an all-time high in market share at 6.9%.

Paid subscriptions of $758m represented 71% of streaming revenue. Ad-supported on-demand streams grew 24%.

RIAA SVP, State Public Policy & Industry Relations Rafael Fernandez Jr. singled out the crossover popularity of Bad Bunny, Becky G, Karol G and ROSALÍA, among others, noting that the “sustained expansion speaks to an openness to new artists, music and ways of listening.”
