Seven years after his last album of new material, Paul Simon will return 5/19 with Seven Psalms, a 33-minute, seven-movement composition to be released by Owl/Sony Legacy.
Recorded entirely on acoustic instruments and performed predominantly by Simon, Seven Psalms showcases his voice and guitar alongside choral elements from the British vocal ensemble VOCES8 and a vocal appearance by Edie Brickell, his wife.
Seven Psalms reaches back to the genesis of folk music: King David’s Psalms. “The result is a quietly moving musical experience that uncovers a wealth of subtle details with every listen,” according to the album announcement. “A step apart from anything Paul Simon has released before, Seven Psalms defies categorization.”
Simon, who retired from touring in 2018, has prepared a "trailer" for the album, which can be viewed below. In other biblical news, several prominent evangelicals have cited the Old Testament to proclaim, "Thou shalt not drink Bud Lite."
