Hollywood Records has released UnPrisoned, an original score composed by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for Onyx Collective’s new Hulu series of the same name, which premiered in March.
The show's Minneapolis setting led executive producer Yvette Lee Bowser to seek out Jam and Lewis, natives of the North Star State and architects, with Prince, among others, of the Minneapolis sound.
“We leaned into the four seasons of Minneapolis and correlated the mood and stories reflected in the show,” said Jam said. “The show certainly influenced the score. It tells deeply human stories of healing and repairing relationships.”
Lewis admitted that he and Jam were “newbies to the world of scoring,” so they experienced some “growing pains” in the studio. Find the 25-track UnPrisoned on Spotify and Apple Music while we try to unprison ourselves from this job.
