UMG PROMOTES COREY WILLIAMS

UMG has upped Corey Williams to VP, Business & Legal Affairs, Rights & Clearances for Republic, Def Jam and Island.

Bringing more than 30 years of experience to his new role, Williams will remain in New York and continue to report to SVP, Business & Legal Affairs, Rights & Clearances Antoinette Trotman, who said, “Corey is an invaluable member of our team who's been instrumental to the continued success of Republic, Def Jam and Island. His wealth of knowledge and expertise has been crucial to navigating the rapidly evolving music-industry landscape and ensuring that our artists and labels are well positioned for long-term success.”

Said Williams, “I want to thank Antoinette and Steve Gawley, UMG's EVP, business & legal affairs, for this opportunity.”

Williams joined UMG as director of business & legal affairs in 2015 and was promoted to senior director soon after joining the company. He began his career in 1985 as an assistant audio engineer at Sony Music Studios, where he worked with George Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Nas and Michael Jackson. By 1997, he’d joined Arista Records as manager of Rights & Clearances. Williams looks forward to forwarding our emails to trash.
