PJ HARVEY MAKES PARTISAN DEBUT

PJ Harvey has released a video for her new single “A Child’s Question, August,” which comes from her forthcoming album, I Inside the Old Year Dying. The project marks Harvey's 10th studio album and first for Partisan Records. It also serves as the follow-up to 2016’s Grammy-nominated The Hope Six Demolition Project. Production on the record (due out 7/7) is handled by Harvey's longtime collaborators Flood and John Parish, while the video is directed by Steve Gullick.

An accomplished poet, musician, songwriter and visual artist, Harvey is among the only artists to win the Mercury Prize more than once. In 2001, she was awarded the honor for Stories From The City, Stories from the Sea and then again in 2011 for Let England Shake. Her latest batch of songs, she hopes, will provide a resting space, a solace, a comfort, a balm."

Recorded primarily at Battery Studios in North West London, the album was created in a space set up for live play, which led to plenty of improvisational moments.

“I think the album is about searching, looking—the intensity of first love, and seeking meaning,” Harvey explained. “Not that there has to be a message, but the feeling I get from the record is one of love—it’s tinged with sadness and loss, but it’s loving. I think that's what makes it feel so welcoming; so open."
