UMG SPOTLIGHTS MAJID, LEE, AN, PULIJAL FOR AAPI HERITAGE MONTH

In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, UMG is shining a spotlight on four execs making waves: Island Co-CEO Imran Majid, Interscope CFO Annie Lee, Interscope EVP, Head of Visual Creative Michelle An and Capitol Records President Arjin Pulijal.

Majid (in black) started at Island in January 2022, sharing the CEO title with longtime colleague Justin Eshak. Majid is the first Pakistani American and the first Muslim to run a major label in the U.S. He and Eshak joined Island from Columbia, where they enjoyed success with numerous global artists as co-heads of A&R. Their appointment at Island marked a return to UMG for the pair, who met in 2004 at Republic, where they worked in A&R.

Taiwan native Lee (in white under black), joined UMG as a senior financial analyst in 2005 and moved to Interscope the following year. She was eventually promoted from SVP of Finance and Operations to CFO, where she continues her work on the label's finance and operational functions.

An (in beige) became a member of Interscope’s brands department in 2006 before moving into the creative area, where she was named head of the department in 2012. Her most recent position was SVP, head of creative. In her new role of EVP, An will lead the team responsible for the visuals promoting IGA artist’s like Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez and Lana Del Rey.

Pulijal (in stripes) was welcomed to Capitol in 2013 as senior director of marketing and upped to VP three years later. He was subsequently named SVP head of marketing. Over the course of his career, he's worked with the likes of Paul McCartney, Halsey, Beck, Masego and Queen Naija. Meanwhile, we can't get anyone from Island, Interscope or Capitol to return our calls.
