Happy Jack Records, the first nonprofit label focused on funding and developing artists seeking to improve their mental, emotional and physical well-being, held a launch party at Ascent Lounge NYC on 5/4. Co-founders David Nathan and Sam Koch and Republic CEO Monte Lipman were among the attendees.
Happy Jack—named after Nathan's son Jack, who died in 2020 at age 19—is intended as a safe haven for kids who've struggled with mental illness. The imprint's overall goal is to shift the industry's perspective on and narrative about mental health.
Other notables in attendance included the New York Giants' Carter Coughlin, Micah McFadden, Dane Belton, Darrian Beavers, Cam Brown, Bobby Okereke and coach John Egorugwu.
Nathan and Lipman are pictured here just after Monte noted that one sure-fire way to improve one's mental health is to make sure HITS is kept at a prescribed distance.
