Politicians and musicians gathered in Washington, D.C., recently for the 2023 Grammys on the Hill Awards. This year’s recipients were Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, honored for their work supporting music creators. Pharrell Williams, meanwhile, was the recipient of the Grammy on the Hill Creative Leadership Award for his philanthropy and musical creativity.
Said Schumer, “I will always, always fight tooth and nail, Brooklyn-style for you because I cannot imagine a life without music. There’s no music without you."
The event, which served as a fundraiser for the Grammy Museum, also featured performances by four-time Grammy winner Nile Rodgers and Grammy nominees JP Saxe and Tobe Nwigwe, among others.
In a related story, New York Congressman George Santos, who was just hit with 13 federal charges (including wire fraud, money laundering, making false statements to Congress and theft of public funds), claimed to have won all the Grammys.
