Warner Bros.' The Flash dominated U.S. box office competition this weekend (6/16-18), with nearly $56m on 4,234 screens. Globally, the film reeled in more than $139m. Starring Ezra Miller in the titular role, the superhero movie is based on the DC Comics character. It was originally projected to gross $65-85m domestically, but after first-day ticket sales, projections were lowered to $60m. Even so, The Flash pulled in roughly $26m more than its closest competitor, the animated Elemental.
