AWAL has named Norva Denton, a former A&R exec at Warner Records, SVP/Head of Urban Music. He'll report to President Pete Giberga from the Los Angeles offices.
Denton is tasked with bolstering and developing the label’s urban music roster via strategic signings and artist development.
“His depth of A&R experience, track record and reach is a very exciting addition for our company and our business in general,” Giberga said. “His infectious energy on top of that is just a bonus.”
At Warner Records, Denton signed, developed and spearheaded the careers of YFN Lucci, Wale, Taykeith, Chika, 2KBABY and others. Denton, a writer and producer, executive produced Wale’s 2019 album, Wow...That’s Crazy and Freddie Gibbs’ 2022 set, $oul $old $eparately.
Denton got his start in 2008 as West Coast regional director of Artist Development at Motown/Island Def Jam.
