STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

Thirty years ago, when we’d think nothing of grabbing a backpack, a pacifier and teddy bear and heading to the desert for a dusk-till-dawn rave, Astralwerks was starting to supply the soundtrack for those heady days inside Caroline Records’ New York City office. On Wednesday, the label’s team got all astral atop Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood to celebrate its first three decades.

Astralwerks artists Surf Mesa, Michaël Brun, OTR and Sunday Scaries provided the entertainment as partygoers reminisced about the days of The Chemical Brothers, Empire of the Sun, Fatboy Slim and Alison Wonderland.

Celebrating the label’s 30th anniversary by sharing their favorite BPM rates were, from left, Astralwerks SVP Luke Armitage, Astralwerks President Toby Andrews, Capitol Music Group Chair & CEO Michelle Jubilerer, CMG President, A&R, Jeremy Vuernick and CMG President Arjun Pulijal.
