THE ZOMBIES ACQUIRE THEIR CATALOG

The Zombies have acquired the rights to their 1960s catalog, forging a pact with Marquis Enterprises Ltd., the independent U.K. production company they signed with as teenagers in 1964.

The four surviving original members—lead singer Colin Blunstone, keyboardist Rod Argent, bassist Chris White and drummer Hugh Grundy—and Helen Atkinson, the widow and estate trustee of guitarist Paul Atkinson, have formed Zombies Partners LLP, which will house the band’s interest in their recordings, merchandise and life rights. Chris Tuthill and Cindy da Silva of The Rocks Management, who've handled the group for the last 10 years, will oversee the company.

The deal encompasses the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ hit singles “She’s Not There,” “Tell Her No” and “Time of the Season” as well as the groundbreaking 1968 album Odessey & Oracle.

Argent thanked Marquis Enterprises Director Carole Broughton “for a fantastic stewardship," continuing, "I particularly feel that in those early years, soon after the original version of the band broke up, she did a brilliant job, spreading the word abroad by tirelessly licensing and re-licensing our songs—to the point where now, all these years later, our entire catalog is streamed and enjoyed by an audience of millions all over the world. It's so gratifying to feel that 60 years later, our music still has relevance and we are now in a position to own our own recordings.”

A new Zombies documentary, Hung Up on A Dream, is slated for release later this year. Blunstone and Argent’s current lineup of The Zombies debuted its latest album, Different Game (Cooking Vinyl Records), at SXSW and will tour North America in October.
