Todd Dupler has been promoted to chief Advocacy & Public Policy officer at the Recording Academy, overseeing the division focused on championing creators’ rights.

Charged with elevating important policy issues that affect the music community, Dupler will orchestrate cross-departmental efforts to advance the overall advocacy goals of the Academy, coordinating state and local advocacy with the Academy’s 12 regional chapters.

“Through his remarkable tenure of nearly 12 years at the Academy, Todd has proven his unwavering commitment to accelerating change,” said Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. “His guidance has been vital to the Academy’s year-round advocacy for creators’ rights and the advancement of pro-music legislation. I look forward to seeing how our Advocacy team will continue to serve and impact the music industry under his leadership.”

Dupler has been VP of Advocacy & Public Policy and acting chief Advocacy & Public Policy officer for the Recording Academy since December 2021, leading its team in Washington, D.C., and coordinating its advocacy and government-affairs efforts.

Dupler's expansion of the Academy’s state and local advocacy work resulted in pro-music laws in multiple states, including California’s Decriminalizing Artistic Expression Act. He's likewise helped secure such legislative achievements as the Music Modernization Act and the Better Online Tickets Sales Act. Dupler also relaunched and reinvigorated the Academy’s signature advocacy programs, Grammys on the Hill and District Advocate.
