A DYLAN MEDICINE SHOW

The Bob Dylan Center will premiere a new exhibition of never-before-seen Dylan artifacts in conjunction with the forthcoming release of the book Bob Dylan: Mixing Up the Medicine. A series of events and performances will be held during a celebratory weekend in Tulsa, home to the Dylan Center, 10/20-21.

The Sarah Lee Guthrie Trio will perform at the Woody Guthrie Center on 10/20. On 10/21, Hurray for the Riff Raff and Bedouine will take the stage at Cain’s Ballroom. Presentations will be given that day by noted Dylan collector and aficionado Mitch Blank and author, journalist and cultural critic Greil Marcus.

The larger show, which opens on 10/20, features manuscripts, artifacts and photographs both rare and iconic. Selected from deep within the Bob Dylan Archive, the majority of the items have never before been shown and will be on display for this exhibition only before being returned to the vault.

Bob Dylan: Mixing Up the Medicine was authored and edited by Mark Davidson and Parker Fishel. It features essays by 30 writers and artists on artifacts found in the Dylan Center’s collection. More than 1,100 images by 135 photographers, artists and film directors are also showcased in the book’s 608 pages.
