AMC is holding off until Monday (10/16) to announce the official gross for the opening weekend of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, but box-office pundits are estimating it will fall between $95m and $97m in North America.
AMC Theatres, which is distributing the movie as well as screening it, has it playing in 3,850 theaters.
It has a chance to post the all-time highest weekend gross in October; 2019’s Joker holds the record of $96.2m. It will easily be the top concert film of all time.
Since most of the tickets were sold in advance, the film did practically no walk-up business. AMC hit social media promoting Sunday screenings figuring Swifties had nothing else to do since Travis Kelce's football game this week was played on Thursday.
