U.K. CHARTS: DIAMONDS SHINES AT #1

The Rolling Stones have their 14th U.K. Official Albums #1 as Hackney Diamonds (Polydor) outsells the rest of the Top 5 combined. Over on singles, Kenya Grace has a third week at the top.

Hackney Diamonds registered 72k sales, the third biggest week of sales for an album in 2023; it’s only behind Lewis Capaldi’s Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent (EMI) and Ed Sheeran’s - (Atlantic).

The Stones are among the acts with the most studio albums to reach #1 on the Official Albums Chart, joining The Beatles, Robbie Williams and Bruce Springsteen with 11 each. (Their self-titled debut album was also their first #1, spending 12 weeks on top in 1964).

blink-182’s ONE MORE TIME… (Columbia) lands at #2, while Bombay Bicycle Club’s My Big Day (AWAL) enters at #3.

Outside the Top 10, the debut from Barry Can’t Swim, When Will We Land (Ninja Tune), docks at #12.

Richard Hawley’s Now Then: The Very Best Of (BMG) is #15, and Sampha charts at #21 with his second album, Lahai (Young).

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Grace’s “Strangers” (FFRR/Major Recordings) remains #1 with 4.4m streams this week. “Prada” (Ministry of Sound) by cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe ends the week just 800 sales behind at #2.

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” (EMI) flies up nine places to #3 following the release of its new live version.

Noah Kahan secures his first U.K. Top 10 single with “Stick Season” (Republic) rising nine to #9. The track was bolstered by a cover from Olivia Rodrigo in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

Today’s highest entry is “Too Much” (Columbia) by The Kid LAROI, Jung Kook and Central Cee, at #10.
