KENDRICK, GLOBAL CITIZEN TARGET TOURING IN AFRICA

Global Citizen and pgLang are launching a long-term, large-scale effort to create an international touring circuit in Africa.

The first event is in Rwanda with Kendrick Lamar as headliner. pgLang, which Lamar co-founded, will serve as the curator of Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience until 2028.

Move Afrika plans to increase demand from international and regional artists for touring in the region and build local capacity in host cities.

In partnership with the Rwanda Development Board, Kigali, Rwanda, will host Move Afrika every year for the next five years—Move Afrika: Rwanda will take place 12/6 at Kigali's BK Arena. Additional countries will be added each year, with the aim of expanding to five by 2025.

Said Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen: “Africa is driving culture and creativity globally, but the continent has been left out of the global music touring circuit. By moving from one-off events to the sustained commitment of an annual tour, Move Afrika will drive transformative investment across Africa through the pioneering of a world-class touring circuit. Move Afrika will pave the way for many more artists to tour the continent while generating economic opportunities in the entertainment industry for Africa’s booming youth generation.”
