Having landed six Grammy nominations, Jon Batiste has announced the rollout of the Uneasy Tour: Purifying the Airwaves for the People in support of his latest album, World Music Radio (Verve).
The tour, which marks his first headlining trek, begins 2/16 at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, before stopping at theaters including the Paramount in Seattle, The Fillmore in San Francisco and the Ryman in Nashville. It wraps 3/27 at Miramar Beach, Florida's Kaleidoscope Beach Weekend.
Something tells us Batiste's mantle is about to be overflowing with trophies. World Music Radio netted five of the six noms: Album of the Year, Record of the Year for "Worship," Song of the Year and Best American Roots Performance for “Butterfly” and Best Jazz Performance for "Movement 18 (Heroes)." He's also up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for his collaboration with Lana Del Rey on her track “Candy Necklace."
It's been a busy time for the bubbly Batiste, who will make several appearances promoting the album before the year is up, including the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on 11/23 and the annual Root 100 Gala, where he’ll be honored as the first Voice and Vision Award recipient, at The Apollo on 12/5.
Coincidentally, we've been told we lack voice and vision.
The general on-sale for the Uneasy Tour begins 11/17 at 10am local time and can be accessed here.
