GUNPOWDER & SKY, AUDIBLE RAISE
THEIR LIGHTERS

The next original podcast to emerge from the partnership between Van Toffler's Gunpowder & Sky and Audible will be Lighters in the Sky, a series about legendary live performances. Premiering tomorrow (12/7), it's an outgrowth of Corbin Reiff's 2017 book of the same name, which is subtitled The All-Time Greatest Concerts 1960-2016.

The eight episodes spotlight Amy Winehouse's 2006 show at London’s Shepherd's Bush Empire, Aretha Franklin's performance of "Respect" before an audience that included Martin Luther King, Jr., Beyoncé's 2016 Formation Tour stop at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen's 1978 three-night run in Passaic, New Jersey, Daft Punk's re-emergence at Coachella in 2006, Led Zeppelin’s 1975 residency at London's Earl's Court, Nirvana's 1992 Reading Festival set and Selena's 1994 concert at Houston's Astrodome.

Reiff is also the author of 2020’s TOTAL F*CKING GODHEAD: The Biography of Chris Cornell. As for Gunpowder & Sky, the company's recent music docs include I Wanna Rock: The '80s Metal Dream and Sometimes When We Touch, the previously untold story of soft rock. An as-yet-untitled boy-band project with Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios is also in the works.
