GAME GUILD AWARDS: A SCHNUR THING

Gaming player Steve Schnur will be presented with the Game Audio Network Guild's (G.A.N.G.) Lifetime Achievement Award as part of its 22nd annual awards ceremony, which will be held 3/21 at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Electronic Arts Worldwide President of Music and Marketing Schnur, who's been with EA since 2001, is also celebrating a leading 16 nominations for the company's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, released with Respawn Entertainment. The game is up for everything from Creative and Technical Achievement in Sound Design to Music of the Year, with additional nods for Best Original Song, Best Original Soundtrack Album and Dialogue of the Year.

Survivor was previously nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, as were EA games Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, God of War: Ragnarök, Hogwarts: Legacy and Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.

"Throughout my career, I've been devoted to fostering education, opportunity and excellence in game audio while bringing greater clarity to issues throughout the gaming community," said Schnur, who's been instrumental to advancing the ambition and reach of music created for the gaming world. "It's a mission that G.A.N.G. shares and one that is more vital than ever. I am deeply humbled and honored by this award."

Added G.A.N.G. Executive Director Savina Ciaramella, "It's with great excitement and sincere admiration that we express our profound appreciation of Steve Schnur, an esteemed figure whose remarkable tenure spanning decades in the industry has been defined by an extraordinary commitment to service and an exceptional dedication to and advocacy for music in video games."

Steve just wishes someone would invent a joystick that could put us out of the game.
