STARTING THE NEW YEAR WITH HONORS

A number of British musicians and execs have been named to the King’s New Year Honors list, including UMG U.K.’s Selina Webb, Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis and Global's Ashley Tabor-King.

Eavis has been awarded a knighthood for services to music and charity.

A CBE for services to music and entertainment has been bestowed upon Global founder and President Tabor-King. Lyricist Don Black, having worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Quincy Jones and Meat Loaf, among others, has been recognized with a CBE for services to music.

Founder of management company Soho Artists Paul Burger (formerly of Sony Music) has received an OBE for services to music and charity. Artist Leona Lewis is also now an OBE for services to music and charity. And Royal Albert Hall CEO James Ainscough, the former CEO of charity Help Musicians, was acknowledged with an OBE for services to music and musicians.

UMG U.K. EVP Webb received an MBE for services to the music industry, neurodiversity and charity. Girls I Rate founder and songwriter Carla Marie Williams was awarded an MBE for services to music.

Dame Shirley Bassey—who in 2020 became the first female artist to chart an album in the U.K. Top 40 in seven consecutive decades—can now add a Companion of Honor to her title for services to music.
