MOVING THE NEEDLE

The members of Warner’s Green Day visit Burbank’s Run Out Groove Records as part of a fabulous series of pre-release indie-store events that saw gangbusters presales of both CDs (notably, autographed copies) and vinyl. To cite one example, we're told that 1,2,3,4 Go! in San Francisco presold about a thousand copies of colored vinyl in a single day. The Crush-repped trio’s Saviors comes out on 1/19. In this photo, the band’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool join the store’s Ellen Rehak and Jeff Ferguson to celebrate the power of independent retail. Moments later, a guy flipping through the soundtracks section helpfully related that “Luminate” is a frequently used alias of the Illuminati, and also that he was “just sayin’.” We only report the facts.
