BOX OFFICE: UPDATE

UPDATE: Paramount’s Mean Girls edged Amazon MGM's The Beekeeper at the weekend box office. After predicting both films would top $7m, the final figures revealed that neither did. Mean Girls pulled in $6.9m; The Beekeeper made $6.7m. Initial projections had The Beekeeper at #1 with an estimated take of $7.4m, $100k more than that of Mean Girls.

Thanks to the Oscar nominations, Searchlight’s Poor Things scored $3.05m more than the previous week, up 43%, MGM’s American Fiction rose $2.9m (65%), A24’s The Zone of Interest increased $1.08m (142%) and Universal’s Oppenheimer tacked on $1m (284%).

  3. Wonka (Warner Bros.): $5.9m total; 3,136 screens/$2,053 average per screen (Week 6)
  4. Migration (Universal): $5.15m total; 2,962 screens/$1,738 average per screen (Week 6)
  5. Anyone But You (Columbia): $4.8m total; 2,885 screens/$1,663 average per screen (Week 6)
