UMG RELAUNCHING EMI IN THE PHILIPPINES

Universal Music Group Philippines is relaunching EMI Records Philippines with a focus on "grassroots support for local talent" to help "nurture new artists into the stars of tomorrow."

EMI's Philippines branch was established in 2002 and has since worked with homegrown acts such as Sandwich, Hale (pictured), Sugarfree, The Dawn, Kyle, Bamboo and Lea Salonga. Its relaunch follows those of UMG outposts of Island and Def Jam Records in the island nation.

UMG Philippines itself is home to a roster featuring Zack Tabudio, Juan Karlos, Moira Dela Torre, Zild and Yeng Constantino. Last year, Karlos became the first artist from the Philippines to enter the Top 100 global Spotify charts, with the song "Ere," which was #1 in the country for 10 weeks.

"EMI has long been recognized as one of the most iconic record labels in the world," said Universal Music Philippines Managing Director Enzo Valdez. "EMI Records Philippines will honor this legacy in its determination to nurture and grow our incredible local talent and showcase it to audiences across the Philippines and beyond."

Now, if you'll excuse us, this Palabok Fiesta Party Pack isn't going to eat itself.
