Veteran DJ, A&R director and film/TV music supervisor Jason Bentley is joining Thrive Music as president of licensing and soundtracks for a new division focused on sync services.
Bentley will be charged with surfacing sync opportunities for the dance-driven Thrive catalog, which includes Tiesto's current hit "Rule the World" with Tears for Fears, Niiko & Swae and Gudfella and ACRAZE's 2021 streaming monster "Do It to It." Founded in 1998 by Ricardo Vinas and distributed by Virgin, Thrive has also released music by Mark Ronson, Steve Aoki, SOFI TUKKER, Paul Oakenfold and Duck Sauce, as well as soundtracks for the films Irreversible and Memento.
Bentley is well-known in the scene for his decade-long stint as music director at KCRW, where he hosted the daily music show Morning Becomes Eclectic. He's also served in A&R posts at Island and Maverick, produced soundtracks for The Matrix and Tron: Legacy and continues to DJ at major music festivals.
"Thrive is on the front lines of dance music culture, and I'm thrilled to join Ricardo and the Thrive team as they continue to build a global force in dance music," said Bentley. Adds Virgin Music Group President of North America and EVP of Global Artist Relations Jacqueline Saturn, "Jason has a vast legacy in music and uniquely understands the power of discovery and how music can have an incredible impact and connection with fans when used in film and TV."
We're celebrating by pretending we were in the room for the Daft Punk DJ set Bentley booked as part of his '90s L.A. club night Bossa:Nova.
