Rapper Yeat's surprise new LP, 2093, is the inaugural entry from the Tom March-led Capitol regime, and it's already #1 at Apple Music. Issued today (2/16), the 22-track project was co-released on the Field Trip imprint, which previously put Yeat's music out through Geffen.
Yeat began teasing the set last fall with propaganda-style videos about a dystopian future in which he governed the imaginary Lyfestyle Corporation as CEO. Projections foreshadowing the album's release appeared on everything from Big Ben in London to a crop circle outside Kansas City, Missouri, but Yeat did not confirm any details until yesterday. Among them: 2093 boasts features by Future and Lil Wayne.
The album follows 2023's Afterlyfe, which enjoyed a Top 5 bow. The Pacific Northwest-raised, L.A.-based artist also got a major boost from his presence on Drake's "IDGAG," which has racked up nearly 293m streams at Spotify global.
The umlaut lover's first taste of virality came when TikTok users discovered his song "Gët Busy" in 2021, and his rise was only heightened the following year with "Rich Minion," from the Minions: Rise of Gru soundtrack, which paired him with the animated franchise’s gibberish-spouting yellow characters.
Listen to 2093 below while we kick ourselves for not coming up with the song title "Psychocainë."
