The first release from the recently announced Republic Corps is another home run for House Lipman as Ariana Grande’s eternal sunshine opens at #1 on the HITS Top 50 with 225k for the biggest bow of the year. Grande’s biggest debut since 2019’s thank u, next, it succeeds 2020’s Positions, which opened with 174k. eternal sunshine’s activity—190m+ streams in its first frame—picked up midweek as second single “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” exploded on DSPs, rising to #1 globally and domestically.
Yes, it looks like yet another mainstay at the top of the charts for House Lipman, and Taylor Swift’s next blockbuster, mind you, is just one month away.
Speaking of domination, Morgan Wallen moves to #2 with One Thing at a Time just as his label home, Big Loud, announces an expanded distribution deal with Mercury/Republic. Following Wallen at #3 is Mercury/Republic’s Stick Season, from breakout Noah Kahan.
Epic’s Judas Priest has the only other debut in the Top 20, with Invincible Shield at #18.
Streeting this week are new titles by MCA Nashville/Interscope’s Kacey Musgraves, RCA’s Justin Timberlake, Silver Arrow’s the Black Crowes, RCA’s Flo Milli and Alamo’s Bossman Dlow.
