Have you ever fallen in love with a song while stoned and then discovered that it's barely mediocre once listening to it in a clear state of mind? I have. Many times. So often, in fact, that I now refrain from listening to certain songs unless I'm hanging out with my friend MJ to avoid disappointment.

After weeks of exclusively playing Gallant's "Weight In Gold" while blazing, I finally took a leap of faith and listened to it with a clear head. The soul-piercing single not only beat the odds, but quickly became an integral part of my daily soundtrack as my alarm tone and #1 work out song. I might have to delete it from my cardio playlist, though; I keep getting weird looks for rocking out too hard at the gym.

From his chill-inducing falsetto range and vocal runs to the brilliant production that pulls the listener in each time, while also being sure to pull back enough to create tension, Mind of a Giant's powerhouse has caught the attention of top influencers. Zane Lowe first premiered “Weight in Gold” as the very first World Exclusive on his Beats Radio 1 show on Apple Music. And this weekend, Red Bull Sound Select’s 30 Days in LA featured him at the sold-out Ace Theater where he performed his signature Alt/R&B set.

For the ultimate eargasm, strap on your headphones as you watch his newly released music video (embedded below). No spliff necessary.

L’chaim,
Naomi Robin
