Camille (Virgin EMI)
11/24/16

WHAT IT IS: Camille has written for Little Mix (#1 “Shout Out to My Ex” and #1 “Black Magic”), Fleur East (#3 “Sax”), Ella Henderson (#7 “Glow”) and The Saturdays (#1 “What About Us”) and is now working as an artist in her own right. “The first solo music from Camille I heard blew me away, it wasn’t what I expected at all, which was straight down the line Little Mix B-side pop,” shares Virgin EMI SVP A&R Nick Burgess. “It was much more left-field. She has a really strong sense of self and of wanting to create something different to the music that she had created for other people… The direction she’s going in is very futuristic, left-field alternative pop music with lots of different influences and very organic production.” Camille’s currently in the studio and will be launching early 2017, with a debut album out Q4. “We’re not just going to roll her out straight to radio. We want to create a buzz about her before we unveil exactly what we’re going to do in terms of the mainstream market,” says Burgess. “We’re not going to take anything for granted just because she’s had success with other artists; that doesn’t give her a golden ticket for success as an artist, so we have to do as much groundwork and artist development with her as we do with any other act. Fortunately, we’ve got someone who can sing and write songs—songs we feel are good enough to eventually transcend over to U.S. radio. We feel that we will see her as one of the biggest pop stars in the U.K., who will hopefully take over internationally. ” Camille is managed by Rodney Williams and Nick Raymonde at Raw Kingdom Management, and Alex Hardee at Coda is her live agent. Publishing goes via BMG.
