WHAT IT IS: Last year, N.Y.-based multi-hyphenate SASH became the first artist inked to Apex Sound, a new joint venture formed by producer Mike Dean and Apex Martin. Executive-produced by the pair, SASH’s six-track project, Bittersweet, which included singles “biscayne” and “lemon sorbet,” put his laidback vocals and earworm melodies on full display. The artist was also one of the first signings Nat Pastor oversaw when he came aboard as Virgin Music co-head. The up-and-comer has already received support from Hot 97, WJMN-Boston, Shade 45, Zane Lowe, DJ Enuff & the Heavy Hitters, DJ Pup Dawg, Spotify and Apple Music. His next single, “ROSSI,” continues his dark and sophisticated “music-noir” style.
