U.K. CHARTS: SWIFT TOPS THE BEATLES
4/16/21

Taylor Swift has claimed a chart record from The Beatles in the U.K., scoring the fastest accumulation of three #1 albums ever. Over on singles, Lil Nas X has a third week at #1.

With just over 21k chart sales, Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (EMI) is her third chart-topper on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart in the space of just 259 days, following Folklore in July and Evermore in December.

She’s the first solo artist to do so in under 12 months and claims the record previously held by The Beatles for 54 years. The Fab Four notched a trio of chart-toppers in 364 days between 1965- and 1966: Help!, Rubber Soul and Revolver. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is her seventh U.K. #1, placing Swift third among female artists with the most chart-topping albums. (Madonna is #1 with 12 while Kylie Minogue follows with eight).

Ariana Grande’s Positions (Island) rebounds 45 places this week to #4 following its release on vinyl, while DMX retrospective The Best Of (UMG) enters at #12 following his death.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, Lil Nas X holds onto the top spot with “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” (RCA) on 64k sales, including 8.4m streams, the song’s biggest week of chart sales in the U.K. to date. “RAPSTAR” (Columbia) by Polo G is this week’s highest new entry at #3.

Elsewhere, Joel Corry, Raye and David Guetta’s collaboration “BED” (Asylum) bounces to a new peak at #4, while Tom Grennan’s “Little Bit Of Love” (Insanity) is up two to a new peak of #8.

Dave’s new single, “Titanium” (NBR), debuts at #9, while Doja Cat also makes a Top 10 debut with “Kiss Me More” f/SZA (RCA) at #10.
