RSD REVEALS FIRST EXCLUSIVES
2/15/22

Three official Record Store Day U.K. releases—limited edition records by Patti Smith, Deacon Blue and Dire Straits—will benefit the charity War Child.

Smith’s release will be a double LP of tracks spanning 1974 to 1996 with the track list selected by the RSD team. The set features “Gloria,” “Because The Night,” “Dancing Barefoot” and “People Have the Power,” among others. It has been limited to 2,250 copies in the U.K.

Deacon Blue will be releasing a 35th anniversary edition of their debut album, Raintown (Sony). Each of the 2k copies are individually numbered, packaged in a foil embellished sleeve and feature new liner notes from frontman Ricky Ross.

The Dire Straits release is an exclusive 40th anniversary version of their ’82 album, Love Over Gold (Mercury). The set has been printed at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios to improve the sound quality and features an embossed lithograph and an essay about the album, including a new interview with Mark Knopfler. Just 1.5k copies will be available at participating record stores on 4/23.

£1 from every copy sold will go to War Child to help protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in conflict.
