GARTH BROOKS EMBRACES STREAMING (AND AMAZON)

For the first time ever, Garth Brooks' music is available to stream. You can find him on Amazon Music. "Baby, Let's Lay Down and Dance"—the lead single off upcoming album Gunslinger—is now up exclusively for streaming, purchase and digital download via Amazon Music Unlimited, along with the Diamond-selling The Ultimate Hits and double Diamond-selling Double Live. The latter is now also available via Prime Music.

More of his music, including Gunslinger (out 11/25), will become available later this year, so stay tuned for updates.

FYI, Brooks—the best-selling solo artist in U.S. history—has received seven Diamond Awards from the RIAA for seven different albums. Will streaming cannibalize his sales? It's hard to tell. Considering that the market is quickly being dominated by streaming, this may just be a necessary sign of the times. It is interesting to note that streaming leaders Apple Music and Spotify have been shut out, though. If you're unaware, Amazon Music Unlimited launched just last week; read more on that here.
