CAM TALKS AT TEDX
3/6/17

Country singer-songwriter Cam has had both Grammy and ACM nominations. Now she can add Ted Talker to her resume. The Sony Music artist delivered both a talk and a performance in at the TEDxUniversityofNevada Conference in Reno, NV, in January.

Originally slated to just perform at the event, Tedx organizers added Cam to the speaker’s list after learning that she’d previously worked in psychology labs at Stanford and UC Berkeley. Her talk, entitled Life Can Be Tough, Music Can Help, focused on the power of music on the human condition.

“It only lasted about 11 minutes... but I was more terrified than I've ever been in my life. To share knowledge publicly means I had to first believe that I have knowledge worth sharing (and questioning myself is pretty much my superpower),” said Cam. “Then came the task of crafting a speech (NOT a song. Very different, for the record) that could help people see the world in a new way: A world that is full of music and has always been full of music. Why that's not an accident. How we need music on a basic human level.”

The ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year nominee also performed three songs from her Grammy-nominated debut album Untamed at the conference–“Burning House,” “Runaway Train” and “Village.”
