URBAN RENEWAL AT THE CMAs
11/8/17

In addition to awarding the year's best in Country music, tonight's 51st CMAs will feature a special performance from Capitol Nashville's Keith Urban. He's slated to debut the song "Female," which was written by Song of the Year nominee Shane McAnally, Nicolle Galyon and Ross Copperman in response to the recent and ongoing Harvey Weinstein scandal.

After being honored for his philanthropy with the BMI Champion Award at the BMI Country Awards on 11/7, Urban had this to say about the song's message: “I think it’s just time for a recalibrating of the past, you know? Things have been a certain way for a long, long time, and I think you’re seeing a turning of the tide.”

Urban is up for awards in three of the categories being presented tonight, namely Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Single of the Year; he was also nominated for Music Video of the Year, but the winners for that have already been announced.
