JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 PEEPED BY MOST PEEPS

Horror Flick Scares Up a Record Box Office For Labor Day Weekend
Jeepers Creepers 2 killed the Labor Day box office record, raking in $18.5 million over the weekend and landing at the top. In the process, it put the hurt on that other slasher flick, Freddy vs. Jason, which had been at the top for two weeks straight, and dropped to seventh place for the week with $8.1 million.

Labor Day officially puts the close on the summer of 2003, so stop wearing white. In the good news/bad news category, this summer’s ticket sales were a record $3.27 billion, beating 1999’s record, but the dollar total was higher because ticket prices were higher. Actual ticket sales were only the fourth-highest in history, at 542.3 million. Finding Nemo was the biggest movie of the summer, taking in $332.4 million so far. So there you have it.

Here’s the rest of this weekend’s top 10: #2 Freaky Friday ($11.7m), #3 S.W.A.T. ($10.5m), #4 (tie) Open Range and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl ($10.2m), #6 Seabiscuit ($8.2m), #8 The Medallion ($5.7m), #9 Uptown Girls ($5.2m), #10 My Boss’s Daughter ($4.5m).
