MTV VMAs Land in Brooklyn

A VMA GROWS IN BROOKLYN: MTV will hold its 2013 Video Music Awards for the first time in Brooklyn at the Barclays Centeron Sunday, August 25, marking the show’s 30th anniversary. The very first VMAs was held at Radio City Music Hall in 1984, with Madonna performing her iconic “Like a Virgin” in wedding dress. “From a vibrant musical scene for up-and-coming artists to epic concerts by today's biggest stars and the triumphant return of pro sports to the borough after nearly 60 years, Brooklyn has re-emerged as a cultural capitol where music, sports and entertainment history is made every day,” said MTV President Stephen Friedman. “Didn’t the Dodgers used to play there?” Jesse Ignjatovic/Den of Thieves is the Executive Producer for the show, along with Amy Doyle, Garrett English and Dave Sirulnick.
