MTV VMAs to Start Early for Prez Speech

PRESIDENTIAL SALUTE: MTV will start its Video Music Awards an hour earlier at 8 p.m. ET/PT tomorrow night to avoid running into President Barack Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, which is slated to begin at 10 p.m. (ET). The VMAs will run from 8-10 p.m. (ET/PT). Drake and Rihanna lead the field with five nominations apiece, with Kevin Hart on hand to MC the telecast. Scheduled performers include Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Pink, One Direction, Green Day, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Alicia Keys, among others. (9/5p)
