Bill Simmons launches site

GOOD SPORTS: Bill Simmons will launch his own website in June. According to ESPN, the site, dubbed Grantland after the legendary sportswriter Grantland Rice, will not only house all of Simmons’ columns and podcasts, but also a slew of columns, blogs and long-form features from contributors including Chuck Klosterman, Dave Eggers and Malcolm Gladwell. Former GQ Senior Editor Dan Fierman is Editor-in-Chief. Said Simmons: “We wanted original voices, and we found a bunch of them already. We’re going to take chances, come up with a few premises and ideas that you haven’t seen before, and be consistently entertaining day after day. You will never know what to expect when you come to the site—in a good way. That’s our ultimate goal.” (5/4a)
