THE TIMES VISITS LESLIE ODOM JR. AT HOME

Four things we learned about former Hamilton star/S-Curve recording artist Leslie Odom Jr. from today’s New York Times profile where the Gray Lady visits the Hell’s Kitchen apartment he shares with his wife, actress Nicolette Robinson, who plays Alison’s friend Jane in Showtime’s The Affair.

1. He thought an artist’s life in New York meant living with rats on the Lower East Side until he visited two apartments: Daphne Rubin-Vega’s home in Tribeca and an art dealer’s space overlooking Central Park. “I started out with this La Bohème fantasy, but as you get older, the La Bohème fantasy becomes less sexy, believe me.”

2. Two years ago, he signed a lease for a Manhattan one-bedroom apartment because he thought a TV series, State of Affairs, would be shooting in New York. “Hamilton at the Public wasn’t going to pay the rent.”

3. Their interior designer, Mike Harrison, previously helped Odom decorate his Hamilton dressing room.

4. The couple forgot to remove the stock photos from the frames they bought to decorate the apartment. “Friends would come in and say, ‘Who are all those white people?’”
