ASCAP CITIZEN WANTS YOU TO VOTE

ASCAP has officially launched the ASCAP Citizen campaign. Powered by HeadCount, the campaign urges the PRO’s 775k+ music creator members and their fans to make sure their votes are counted on Election Day 2020.

ASCAP Citizen kicks off their campaign with photos, videos and personal messages about voting from its members across ASCAP socials during the week of 9/21. Participants include Jermaine Dupri, The Go-Gos Jane Wiedlin and Charlotte Caffey, Brothers Osborne, The Menzinger’s Joe Godino (pictured), Avenue Beat, Ingrid Michaelson, Donna Missal and The Maine as well as many others.

ASCAP will also highlight “get out the vote” messages from members engaged in their own vote campaigns like Cardi B, Billie Eilish, FINNEAS, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Diplo, John Stamos and more partnered with HeadCount.

“Through ASCAP Citizen, we are reminding music creators and music fans alike of the extraordinary power that they all have to shape the future of our democracy during these unprecedented times,” shared ASCAP CEO Beth Matthews. ASCAP Chairman of the Board/President Paul Williams added, Now, we need our votes to be heard. It’s time to embrace our role as ASCAP Citizens.”

"This partnership celebrates the role of musicians and songwriters as citizens. We applaud ASCAP for its leadership in giving members all the resources they need to help turn out the vote," said Andy Bernstein, HeadCount's Founder and Executive Director.

As an official partner of National Voter Registration Day (9/22), ASCAP invites all to share ASCAP Citizen messages on social media with #ASCAPCitizen to encourage their followers to register to vote ahead of upcoming state voter registration deadlines.

Through ASCAP’s partnership with HeadCount, anyone can register to vote or verify and update their voter registration status by texting VOTER ASCAP to 40649 or visiting www.HeadCount.org/ASCAP. For more information about ASCAP Citizen, click here.
