U.K. CHARTS: IDLES CLAIMS FIRST #1

Idles have scored their first #1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with Ultra Mono (Partisan) on 27,000 sales. Over on singles, 24kGoldn’s “Mood” (Black Butter) claims a second week at the top.

As well as hitting the #1 spot, Ultra Mono has overtaken Liam Gallagher to claim the fastest-selling vinyl album of 2020 so far, after shifting 15,400 copies over the week.

Machine Gun Kelly’s fifth studio album, Tickets To My Downfall (Bad Boy/Interscope), is the second highest new entry at #3 today, followed by DeftonesOhms (Reprise) at #5. Following his Mercury Prize win, Michael Kiwanuka’s Kiwanuka (Polydor) has seen a 4,500% increase in sales, rising to #4 from #78.

Joji’s Nectar (88Rising/12Tone) ends the week at #6, Warner’s expanded edition of Prince’s 1987 album, Sign O’ The Times, sits at #7, and Slade collection Cum On Feel The Hitz–The Best Of (BMG) lands the band their first Top 10 album in nearly 46 years at #8.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles chart, “Mood” logs another 55,000 chart sales, including 7m streams, to remain on top.

Elsewhere, three songs make big climbs in this week’s Top 10: “Lemonade” (10K Projects) by production collective Internet Money f/Gunna, Don Toliver & Nav lifts three places to #5; Miley Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky” (RCA) jumps four to a new peak at #7; and rising star Tate McRae celebrates her first Top 10 single with “You Broke Me First” (Ministry of Sound) lifting six to #9.

This week’s highest new entry is South London duo Da Beatfreakz f/Dutchavelli, Digdat & B Young’s “808” (Sony), which lands at #20.
