SPAC, THE FINAL FRONTIER: KATZ, LARIS AND WHAT'S NEXT

Laris Media Acquisition Corp. is a new SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) that includes on its team luminaries from the music world, notably songwriter/producer/exec Simon Katz and eOne CEO Darren Throop, who serves as Laris Chairman. Laris filed for a $250m IPO on NASDAQ to explore opportunities in music and audio.

The Laris team also includes former J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley media banker Clemens Dornemann and investor Andrew Ho; strategic advisors are Rob Stevenson, Andrew McInnes and Jordan Bromley.

Given the flourishing economic landscape for creators and an ever-evolving technological infrastructure, the Laris team believes it is well positioned to deliver value for creators and entrepreneurs and strong opportunities for investors, reducing barriers of access to capital and empowering players in the music space.

“As an artist/songwriter/producer and music executive I will anchor the company’s true north on creative empowerment,” said Katz. “We are at this unique juncture where technological disruption is redefining the music industry. Our approach creates a tremendous whitespace opportunity to form deep and lasting relationships with independent artists globally.”

Added Throop, “We have the right team in place to execute on an unprecedented opportunity in the audio space.”

“We believe the next-generation music company needs to have a creator-centric model ingrained in its DNA,” declared Dornemann. “Our goal is to generate attractive and sustainable returns for all stakeholders, especially our creator partners.”
