UMPG OPENS IN ISRAEL

Universal Music Publishing Group opened the doors of UMPG Israel in Tel Aviv today, making it the only major music publishing company with an Israeli outpost.

Biz vet Itamar Shafrir has been tapped as UMPG Israel’s General Manager, Publishing and Production Music. He reports dually to Simon Baker, General Manager of UMPG Europe Publishing, and Michael Sammis, President of Universal Production Music worldwide. In addition to his service in various music roles in New York, Tel Aviv and London, Shafrir worked in film and television for 12 years and held leadership roles at UMG sister company Havas London.

Shafrir said, “UMPG has the most incredible roster of talented writers, for whom we will be seeking unique opportunities throughout the region.”

Now, if only Langer’s or Nate’n Al’s would open an Israeli joint, we’d be all set.
