Warner Music Group has launched "Rhythm City," a music-themed social role-play experience from online gaming platform Roblox. Developed in partnership with Gamefan, it gives users the option to become a virtual DJ, producer, dancer or other industry-related character while competing in music challenges. Users will also get the chance to attend virtual concerts and other events featuring WMG artists.
Gamefam founder/CEO Joe Ferencz gushed, "WMG has been a brilliant partner in pushing innovative strategies, and together with our own expertise, we’ve channeled that into production excellence, creating a new community for music lovers in the metaverse."
"Rhythm City"—where the grass is fake and the girls aren't human (and boomboxes are still a thing)—will be available on Roblox beginning 2/4 via Android, iOS, Mac, Windows PC and Xbox One. For more information, go here while we cue up the Guns N' Roses.
