PETRAS & MINAJ ARE GIVING IT

Kim Petras has released the music video for her scintillating new single, “Alone” f/Nicki Minaj (Republic/Amigo Records). Directed by Arrad, the clip—which doubles as a Bose ad—finds the duo rapping and singing over a sample of Alice Deejay’s 1999 smash “Better Off Alone.” Sprinkled throughout are references to club classics like Eric Prydz’s “Call on Me,” Alex Gaudino’s “Destination Calabria” and Fedde Le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up for Detroit.”

Petras is coming off a fruitful year that saw her 2022 collaboration with Sam Smith, “Unholy,” dominate the pop charts. Co-written by Petras, the track took home the 2023 Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and has since surpassed 1 billion streams. She and Smith performed it on the Grammys telecast, Saturday Night Live and the BRIT Awards.
